China’s gold output up 10.6% in Jan-Feb

China saw its gold output increase by 10.6% year on year to 63.2 tons in the first two months of this year, according to statistics released by China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.In the first two months of this year, gold mines in the country produced 51.7 tons of gold, 10.4% more than in the same period of 2013.Meanwhile China’s nonferrous smelters produced 11.5 tons of colored-by-product gold in the first two months, reflecting a year on year increase of 11.6%.From Jan to Feb 2014, the gross output value from China’s gold industry totaled RMB 45.51 billion, down 3.1% from a year earlier.In the same period, mainland China imported 192.8 tons of gold from Hong Kong, surged 140% year on year.
